When Allies Stay Silent: Questioning The Gilded Age’s Omission of Jewish History

We are fans of series The Gilded Age and were pleased to discover that Lord Julian Fellowes (the show’s creator) is a Friend to the Foundation of Jewish Heritage UK.
As a Friend, he must rise to the occasion. How is it possible that he cast two known Jew haters Cynthia Nixon and Morgan Spector as lead characters in the show? Mr. Spector has been part of a circle according to the World Socialist News that have read out an indictment of Israel more than thirteen million times. Cynthia Nixon has also supported this anti-Israel action and many more. Ironically, Mr. Spector’s father is Jewish. Ms. Nixon in the now cancelled Sex & The City series’ has played a best friend to her very Jewish friend Charlotte and in The Gilded Age advocates for characters of all races, with the Jewish community noticeably absent.
Moreover, during the period depicted in the show, there was a tremendous influx of Jews arriving from Europe to New York. While the show works beautifully to discuss issues and successful stories of the Black Community post-Civil War, Lord Fellowes is silent on the matter of Jews in New York City.
We seek help from Lord Fellowes now at this most difficult of times for Jews across the globe. If he claims to be a friend to the Jews through his work with the Foundation of Jewish Heritage UK, Lord Fellowes must be vocal in his defense of the Jewish community and condemn the words and activities of Ms. Nixon and Mr. Spector.
The harrowing pictures and videos released recently of Israeli hostages Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski are reminiscent of Holocaust victims, and these actors, through their verbal support of Hamas, also support such atrocities. Israel has said if the hostages were released and Hamas left power; this would all be over in Gaza. Instead, the actors blame Israel for the events since being brutally attacked on October 7, 2023. Lord Fellowes’ support of them provides them a platform with the successful Gilded Age. This only encourages their egregious behavior while reflecting negatively on Lord Fellowes, the show, HBO and Warner Brothers.
We seek to bring this to light to stand up us Jews and those who support justice.
